Drives to Chipotle will never be the same without you, babe 😫

I said goodbye to my Mini Cooper last Friday

I had her for 15 years & 150,000 miles

Super Charged

Most fun thing I’ve ever had

She was my third car ever, preceded by a

92 Toyota Corolla

88 Ford Tempo

I’m a car person

I like to drive

The world makes better sense when I can sing and just enjoy the drive

It’s therapeutic

I like to drive fast

We were no strangers to the governor shutting it down after we reached top speed 124 mph - I thank my dad for my need for speed 😆

All that aside…

This Mini Cooper represents a very significant time in my life

I was newly married, newly promoted to a team lead position and determined to go out and save the world!

One thing that’s a big deal to me that my closest friends know about… personal finances.

I learned so many things financially with this Mini Cooper.

My first husband encouraged and empowered me to get this car

I didn’t think I deserved anything this nice

The best deal on a Mini Cooper at the time was a

3 year old

40k mile for

$16,000

But it was in Tulsa

We lived in Ohio

Ryan’s response

“So? We can fly there. If we don’t like it, we can fly back.”

Do you know how empowering that was?!

My credit was no good at the time and Wright Patt CU immediately denied me a car loan.

(I didn’t want anyone to co-sign for me)

They told me the problems with my finances/credit report

I took that feedback

1 month later, I was back to Wright Patt Credit Union at the same lady’s desk who was SHOCKED that I was instantly approved

2 years later I refinanced it for $17k

MORE than what I bought it for

It retained its value pretty well

If you’re familiar with car values, loans and credit scores, this was a pretty impressive feat.

just sayin

I felt like I proved to myself

“Okay, I can do this adult and money thing.”

I drove with this Mini Cooper to see my sister

The same exact weekend my sister contacted the family

She was adopted at birth

(Love you SISTER!!)

I worked on this car myself

It’s part of my identity at this point 😆

And there you have it….

The ultimate reasons behind the significance of this car

I’m pretty proud of this Mini Cooper

I donated it to a friend who may just fix her 💜
